We've had a lovely 2 weeks at Le Puech - thank you! It's our first visit to this area and the first time we've stayed anywhere for two whole weeks. There's so much to see I think we may have to return. The cottage is lovely - one of the best we've stayed in. The welcome platter of cheeses was a particularly nice touch. We've used the pool as much as possible and we've managed to get 2 swims in most days. We don't tend to eat out much but prefer to buy food locally and then cook back at the gite - hopefully always on the BBQ. We're now firm fans of aligot and farcous - both bought from the wednesday evening market in Entraygues. We "enjoyed" the 6 km "walk" around Bez Bedene. We try to find geocaches when on holiday as they take you to places you might not otherwise find - La Chapelle de Dol on the main road to Estaing - stop if you can to read the love story. The walk around Bozouls is particularly lovely as are any of the short walks up to the Puy de Montabes and Pic du Castel at Montezic. The drive round to Ginolac and on to the Potterie du Don and then le Fel was lovely as well as all the the expected sites and visits to Chateau de Valon, St Eulalie d'Olt, Estaing, Espalion and of course Conques. We still can't believe how quiet this area is - unspoilt by tourists - we'll have to keep it as our secret! G and JH, Rye, East Sussex
Lovely situated in a beautiful area of the Lot valley. We have seen some beautiful villages/towns. Entraygues' evening Wednesday market is a must, lovely local producers. Cottage has been very peaceful and great to listen to the birds and owl in the evening. swallows have given us a wonderful flying display. Thank you,... for your guides to the region and giving us a restful holiday. R and AP, Stamford, Lincs.
We have had a very enjoyable and relaxing two weeks in Le Puech de Banhars. We have enjoyed exploring the many lakes and beautiful villages in the area. The weather in our second week was excellent. In summary we have had a fabulous and relaxing holiday in a beautiful area of France. P and KH, Wolverhampton, West Midlands
Cafe du Lac - St Gervais, just above the beach and the pedallos, very friendly, nice outlook and good food. La Capalette - near Montezic. The "menu of the day" is a true French lunch, make sure you have a spare three hours! We loved our stay here so much, Archie, our son, did not want to come home and wanted to live with Howard and Lesley! Jones family, West Midlands
We've had a wonderful time in this beautiful part of the Aveyron - the scenery is stunning, breathtaking and very peaceful. We had cooler weather than usual this week but the sun did shine and we visited many interesting places: St Come d'Olt lovely church with interesting twisted spire; St Eulalie d'Olt , very interesting, pretty buildings and lovely cafe du Pont on the river Lot;beautiful Espalion, super bookshop - tanners cottages overhanging the river; Estaing was pretty; Bez Bedene a beautiful church in dramatic landscape, heather flowers very purple! Deep ravines full of Crag Martins and other Martin birds; Trou de Bozouls - breathtaking as is Conques Abbey. Didn't have time to visit new Soulages gallery in Rodez. Belcastel - very pretty, cobbled streets - lovely. Chateau Valon - Gorges de Truyere - dramatic on a rocky outcrop. Geological features - "chaos de Boules" inbetween Lacroix Barrez and Brommat; "Clapas" near St Come d'Olt - lava flow - very dramatic -spectacular. Entraygues is a particularly delightful place - lovely walk round the old town - very helpful lady in Tourist Information who gave excellent tourist map and Aveyron booklet in English. We would highly recommend the Golden Lion restaurant - food delicious and of the region - very friendly and accommodating staff. Notre Dame Chapel by Notre Dame Quay is very peaceful, thought provoking and beautiful in its simplicity. Thank you ... for providing a wonderful selection of local cheeses, bread, fruit and wine. Excellent butchers in Entraygues nearly opposite the Post Office - nearby beautiful Boulangerie - English newspapers at Maison de Presse also in the same street. ...We've enjoyed our stay immensely. PS Don't forget to visit Causse Comtal and Rodelle- gems off the beaten track! S and PJ, Hampshire
Some comments from visitors, 2013.
Thank you for a very comfortable cottage - very easy to settle in and just live in. Wonderful pool with beautiful views. Enjoyed our walks from the cottage. Really appreciated the bread, cheese, milk wine and water when we arrived. J and CHD, Coventry
What a wonderful spot! Highlights for us have been: Canoeing; we recommend the 20 km from Entraygues to Grand Varbre. If the water is high the fast flowing river carries you easily along. Fun rapids over the 1st 10 km, but be prepared to get very wet! We loved Entraygues; not a "Beau village de France" but beautiful to us. Hotel Lion d'Or - a lovely meal on the Garden Terrace. Most of all though, we have enjoyed relaxing at the Stone Cottage. The pool is amazing - set amidst magnificent views - water so clean, with a soft, silky feel. ..... So we've had a wonderful two week holiday and have booked in for next year!! (Mustn't forget Lara - such a gentle and friendly dog.) M and C B, Coventry
I enjoyed the pool because it gets really hot sometimes and it's nice to cool down in the afternoon after a day of looking around places. I loved having Lara around she is a lovely dog!! Kate age 10
It has been a lovely week even the thunderstorms and powercuts had added a little excitement.... We particularly enjoyed the visit to the pottery at Le Fel - the building is worth seeing. Conques is worth a visit - very pretty - shame the shops aren't developed more. The lake at Montezic is lovely and we liked the way they have developed the beaches. S, M and family Norfolk
Lovely warm welcome. Fabulous cottage and pool with plenty of places to find shade or sun! Wi-fi was very useful. We found Conques a little commercial. Further afield - Millau bridge very impressive via the Tarn Gorges to see wild vultures. Wonderful, relaxing holiday. B, J and A S; Bristol
We have enjoyed a wonderful week in this very homely gîte. Wall to wall sunshine, and the pool has been well used. D and B W, B and C G; Sussex.
We have again enjoyed a very pleasant week at Le Puech. The weather has been very kind to us, which has enabled us to enjoy our surroundings and the lovely pool! We have also visited a very friendly vineyard in Le Fel and enjoyed an evening meal at L'Auberge Fleuri (Montalvy). The wifi is a great improvement and it was very useful to have. .... Special thanks go to Lara (the dog) who kept us very safe in the pool and was fun to have around... Thank you and see you again soon. (Age range 28 - 54) K and L H and family, North Wales
We have felt very much at home in this beautiful place. We have been on several walks, all of which we enjoyed. The walk round St Come d'Olt was lovely as was St Eulale and St Geniez. Conques is spectacular of course and has a fascinating medieval atmosphere. A M, Kent
Chateau Valon and village are well worth a visit; Canoeing for the adventurous, but be careful and ask which side of the river for the trickiest rapids! Walks from the door through the woods; join "The Circuit des Vernhes" (See Vacances en Aveyron walking leaflet) just up the road. A good 1 hour walk starts just down the road. A beautiful area, quiet, nice people, we have had a great week in a very comfortable well-equipped house. R and J, Liverpool

Once again everyone in the family had a lovely holiday, even more relaxing than last year if that were possible. You immediately feel at home in the cottage which means the holiday starts straight away. Of course the kayaking is even more fun as the girls get older. Finding a safe place to swim in the river was an added bonus. We still are awed by the wonderful scenery and breath-taking views. S, M, K and T. Norfolk
Another fantastic holiday at Le Puech. We have revisited some places from last year (Conques, Poterie du Don, Le Fel, and of course the canoeing - always a great day out) and also been to some new ones - St Come d'Olt, a walk up Puy de Montabès (great views). Unfortunately we have run out of time and so will have to leave some of our planned trips until next year! It has all been so good we have booked again for next year...M, K and H G, Cambs
We had a delightful visit...visiting the medieval castle at Valon was fascinating. Entraygues had a fun artisan evening on a Tuesday night (we happened to see acrobats the night we went in, very dramatic.) The play park in Entraygues was enjoyed by our children. The Friday market was filled with interesting food and souvenirs. We popped into the Hydro-Electric power station information centre - Espace Info Hydroelectricite - CNR, which had some interesting screens (in French). They gave out attractive postcards. Laguiole the home of knives and a cheese....the knife factory: Forge de Laguiole on the outskirts of town allowed you to walk through, watching all the stages of a knife being made. It has been a tranquil, beautiful gite to visit in an atmospheric setting Thank you again for such a lovely holiday home. N and M F, Scotland
This is our second visit to Le Puech. It gets better. We will recommend the cottage and the area to all the people we know.... We will come back again. L and S H, Nottingham
Lovely stay, beautiful area. The pool is wonderful and we have all decided that salt is way better than chlorine, far more enjoyable! Valued having the weather forecast and the cheese was a lovely welcome. We visited the Gorge du Tarn which was absolutely amazing and well worth the 11/2 hr drive further down. We have enjoyed this lovely holiday in this extremely beautiful area. BF and family, Somerset
What a superb place to spend a holiday. Situated as it is with such fine panoramic views of the countryside. The house itself has been truly a home from home; with all the comforts it has provided for the past two weeks (a time which has passed all too quickly) The location of this beautiful cottage has allowed visits to many sites of interest. We would particularly recommend the monastery at Bonneval ..... We hope to be back in the future. J and L H, Yorks
We have had a lovely holiday in this well equipped gite. This has been our second visit to this area and we will certainly be back again. C and S M, Yorks.
Location: Superb scenery - mountains, rivers, forests, lakes....has a bit of everything. v quiet and peaceful. Cottage: Beautiful and v well equipped. a huge amount of love has gone into restoring/rebuilding it (watch the DVD, you will be impressed) Out and about: Good walks around Montezic reservoir (lots of black and red kites); knife making factory at Laguiole - interesting. Lovely location. J and M H, Surrey
All the comforts needed for a wonderful holiday. Ours certainly was. We had a fantastic time. We toured the whole area and saw some magnificent places. We didn't visit many resataurants but those we did served good food at reasonable prices. P and D M, Lincoln
Arrived to a very well equipped home from home feel. Beautiful surroundings and convenient supermarket in local town to buy food....Market on Friday, small but worth a little visit....The pool is great fun and fantastic to have it on the doorstep, felt very spoilt and will miss that!!... Not ready to go home but hope to return....Thank you for welcoming essential food pack and info....Hope to see you again in the future B, N, T and H, Stroud, Glos.
Many thanks for a wonderful stay. I would recommend Conques and canoe down the Lot from Entraygues. JS, London
What can we say? Yet another fantastic holiday here in Le Puech - there is so much to do that we haven't been able to fit everything in. Those things will have to be first on the list for next time! Canoeing was excellent and great fun; Entraygues is lovely, Bes Bedene is always worth another visit; the coffee at St Amans merits the ride up hill to get there ... and so on. Thank you so much for another really relaxing holiday - can't wait for next time. M and K G; Cambs
Some comments from visitors, 2016
Years ago I read "Three Rivers of France" which waxed lyrical about the upper reaches of the Lot, then I bought the excellent Everyman Guide to the Lot Valley. Now we have finally got here we discover that it is stunning! we visited the sites suggested in the Michelin and by Everyman, but it is the sheer beauty of the landscape that makes this area so outstanding. The road between Entraygues and Estaing was closed, so we had often to go over the tops of the hills and saw those wonderful views in all different lights. Apart from the river valleys the countryside of the Chataignerie between Maurs and Montsalvy is lovely, and we liked the scenery around Mur de Barrezand up to Vic sur Cere. Most of all we enjoyed crosscountry trips because this area retains so much of its old rural architecture. A lovely fortnight. Many thanks for the warm welcome. J and M F, Shaftesbury, Dorset.
A great week in this area. What a delightful cottage. The pool is lovely and the views stunning. Lynn has mobility problems but managed Entraygues on her scooter. Not all the crossings had drop-kerbs and some of the paths were under repair so we had to use the roads occasionally but traffic was light so no real problems. We visited Millau viaduct (to avoid the toll enter the visitor centre via D992). The visitor centre has good car parks and benches for picnics. Sloping paths to the view point were good for the mobility scooter.; but a wheelchair would be difficult. The visitor centre is wheelchair friendly. We had meals out at La Capalette and Deux Vallees, good meals from "Menu du Jour" in both...Arrive early for a terrace table. J and L S, Fleckney, Leics.
We have had an enjoyable week in this lovely cottage - the pool is amazing.....We thoroughly recommend the canoeing at Entraygues - very organised, friendly and not too expensive, also they speak English. The rapids are great fun! Conques is definitely worth a visit as is Vallon. As we were only here for a week we shall have to return to the region as there is still so much more to see and do and we doubt there is a more welcoming place to stay. M,C and KB, Salisbury, Wilts.
Amazing experience! Incredible views of the valleys and hills. Lovely swimming pool and would definitely want to stay again. There is so much to see. House is lovely! Sam (aged 10) We've had a wonderful holiday here. It's been lovely to meet you and get to know (just a little bit!) this beautiful and surprising area. Thanks for suggesting certain places to us. A lot of highlights, but amongst them were Conques, Bes Bedene, Bozouls canoeing on the Lot, swimming in the Tarn and the Millau viaduct. And then things closer to hom, Puy de Montarbes, Ginolac (opposite across the valley), and of course the pool. J and RF, Colchester, Essex.
This is the second time we have been to Le Puech and it has been great sun and really relaxing! We enjoyed the pool in the baking hot sun and having BBQs outdoors. We also enjoyed going canoeing from the base d'Entraygues for 10km and we went through lots of rapids...(Zoe). We enjoyed a day trip to the "Velorail du Larzac" - a bike trip along a railway line with great scenery.. (Kirsty). All has been super, thankyou...We always appreciate the cheese, wine and fruit and vegetables from the garden...The Millau viaduct was fantastic - well worth a visit - a great day when combined with Larzac Velorail. (A,K,Z and K G, Kenilworth)
As ever, a superb two weeks... this is our 6th visit. Visits to the Cantal with a full days hike to the summit of Puy Chavaroche, weather excellent and summit view stunning. Lots of cycling- St Amans and return via Campouriez and Entraygues; also Laguiole, La Grande Vabre, Bez Bedene and numerous routes round and about. Canoes from Entraygues are well worth the 31€, check the weather and book ahead.Hike from the old bridge in Entyraygues up to Ginholac, again fantastic views on a good day. Pool is lovely and very welcoming following activities during the day, so much more to do, just not enough time to do it all - so we'll be back next year. ...It's been yet another wonderful break for us. M and K G; Cambs
We are now at home again after a lovely break in France and we thank you both for your help, friendship and fantastic location for our holiday. We meant to leave a note in your file but forgot at the last minute but we had really good visits to Laguiole, visiting the knife factory, do advise visitors to get there by 11am so that they can see the staff at work, and the cheese factory. We recommend trying the Alligot with BBQ meat and the bread and cheese at St Amans des Cots. Conques, Estaing and Espallion were also worth a visit but Decazeville was disappointing. Eating out, looking at the fantastic view from your property was a delight and the pool a necessity for us when in France! We hope you enjoy the rest of your time before returning in the autumn. Thank you again and best wishes. D and J W, Dorset
We have enjoyed immensely our week in this new area of France. The gorges, medieval villages and spectacular scenery have made us feel we would like to return again another time. Many thanks for suggesting places to visit and restaurants to enjoy. We had two lunches in Entraygues at the "2 Valleys" which were excellent. We really enjoyed our trips down to Entraygues, Estaing and Bozouls, also Conques is a must! It was also lovely to relax round this wonderful pool and enjoy some sunny and warm weather. P and L W, Suffolk
This was our first visit and hopefully not our last, this is a great location....Places to visit are Conques, Trou de Bozouls (definitely do the walk round the gorge) then back at the top for a sandwich and beer overlooking the fantastic views. we also visited the Millau bridge (7.80€ toll each way) but well worth it if you don't mind the drive. Also closer to home, Bes Bedene and Puy de Montarbes are definitely worth seeing....The swimming pool was great...S,L and A, Sedgley, West Midlands
...There is a surprising range of "beau" villages in the valleys and hills of the Aveyron. We were very pleased with the accommodation - its pool, facilities and views. The Puy de Montabes table d'orientation is not far, gives a wider view of the whole area. The walk and views around Bozouls are spectacular and a visit to Conques is not to be missed. The Gallerie du Dons ... was well worth a visit. The maison de la Chataigne at Mourjou en Chataigneraie was surprisingly good. R and J H.
...Entraygues is a delight to explore, friendly people...the pottery in the small square is wonderful, ...we lunched at "Les Deux Vallees" ...the set menu is outstanding. .. Jean Marc Viguier winery at le Fel allows you to sample... Conques is worth a visit and Bozouls a must. we made full use of the pool - superb. Watch the DVD to see what this extraordinary couple went through to convert/restore these lovely houses! K and Y W, Kent
Despite the disappointing weather we have had an enjoyable week. The walks in this area are splendid; thank you for the loan of the books. The gite is well-equipped and we enjoyed the cheeses which we probably would not have tried if they had not been provided. The other supplies were also appreciated. Our visit to Conques was excellent as were our excursions to Valon and Estaing. I would not recommend Rodez. J and J G, Dorset.
Some comments from visitors, 2015.
We have all enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing week at Le Puech. We wanted hot - well we certainly got hot!! The thunderstorm mid-week acted as a little relief! We all loved the cottage - it is beautifully laid out, very cosy and very fully equipped. The fans such a bonus through the night!! The swimming pool is fabulous - so lovely just to dip in and out for a cool off!! The great supply of parosols and sun loungers meant we were all catered for!! It's great to have a little wander round the orchard and find the little sitting areas. As we said, we've not travelled far but a drive down to Rodelle, Estaing and Bozouls all very well worth it - absolutely stunning scenery. A visit to lake St Gervais equally worthwhile. We loved the Wednesday evening market at Entraygues... Would love to return very soon...PS On arrival the collection of cheeses, bread, wine etc. were most welcome. S, G, A, and E B, Dorset. The family have enjoyed a superb week based at Le Puech. Temperatures were solidly in the range 29 - 34 C, with blue skies all the way. Pool wonderfully refreshing - even at 28oC for the water! The surrounding countryside is very lovely and worthwhile just driving around - such a change when you reach the tops of the hills - another world.... Thanks for all the information and especially the restaurants list- accurate and invaluable! N and B M, Glasgow.
Lesley and Howard have created a delightful and restful gite, superbly appointed and with every convenience you could want. Their welcome and readiness to assist is exemplary. We have spent two blissful weeks here, with only a few drawbacks, wholly as a result of the early weeks of the season, namely the weather which has been variable, and the off-season closure of quite a few of the attractions. Nevertheless we have had memorable visits to Laguiole, Millau (and the viaduct), Rodez, Aurillac, Figeac, Albi, plus numerous smaller, but none-the-less beautiful villages and small towns. S R, Tenby, Wales
Our thanks to Lesley and Howard for providing such a superb holiday cottage. Very comfortable with everything we could have needed. Beautiful area with so many interesting places to see - our favourites are Espalion, Estaing and Conques - and we loved the drives along the Lot valley and gorge. G and S M, Kent

..It is a hackneyed expression to say "it ticks all the boxes", but for us this qualifies very well as the holiday has been a totally idyllic one. Sue and I have enjoyed the panoramic scenery as well as enjoying the pleasant and natural atmosphere experienced in the towns/villages/establishments which has combined to make this a memorable visit to this region. While there is undoubtedly much to see and do it wasn't our intention to be 'active' in the sense of site-seeing. We did, though, take a trip to see the impressive Millau viaduct. It is a very comfortable Gite perfect for a 'chill' out; a real tonic. The added [bonus] these last two weeks has been a decent spell of glorious (hot) sunshine which enabled us to enjoy the benefit of swimming in your 'A1' pool. For us, a real treat was the Sunday lunch at "La Mejanassere" on the D42. A memorable lunch of regional food. We had an enjoyable picnic lakeside at St. Gervais, a nice spot and well worth doing.... S and J R, Colchester.
Lesley and Howard have got the balance just right - available to help and advise but not intrusive. Lara is just delightful! We have been very lucky with the weather.... so the pool has been a very welcome retreat after a long hot day. Places we have enjoyed visiting include Conques, the lake at Montezic, Estaing, the Chateau of Valon, Bozouls and the Chateau de Calmont d'Olt. The highlight of the week for us was a 10 km canoe trip from Entraygues to Base du Port, Vieillevie. C and J, Wirral, Merseyside

We have had a lovely week exploring this area for the first time. A beautiful part of France, and made extra good by the comfortable gîte to come back to at the end of the day, swim and relax. Thanks to Lesley and Howard for providing us with all the facilities, and a very welcome array of goodies to start us off (especially the cheese! ) . A lovely idea. We enjoyed meals around the area. Would especially recommend Hotel les 2 vallées here in Entraygues and a wonderful lunch in Vieillevie at Hotel de la Terrace. We're sad to leave - it's been a happy week. Thank you. J and S M, Devon.
We can honestly say that the cottage here at Le Puech is one of the best we have stayed in over many years holidaying in France - most years we have had our French "fix" since 1987! Lesley and Howard were very helpful and knowledgeable and pointed us in the direction of Montezic, Conques and the Lake at St. Gervais - lovely. Wherever we have been the views have been fantastic and we have enjoyed picnics and totally relaxed. The week we have stayed here has flown and we look forward to a return visit in the future. P and DM, Wiltshire.
Le gite et la piscine sont fantastique! We have had a fabulous stay here at Le Puech. The cottage is brilliant, with so much space - plenty of areas to enjoy the beautiful scenery and sit out. The pool is stunning! Lesley and Howard have made us feel extremely welcome and have given great advice about places to visit. (Many thanks for the welcome goodies) We have enjoyed visiting Conques, Bozouls, Château Valon, Espalion, Estaing, Le Fel (including Le Don Pottery) and the lake at Montezic. We have cycled (road from Estaing to Espalion on other side of river), canoed (Entraygues to Base du Port) and walked (various local routes using information provided in the cottage). The market evening (Entraygues on a Wednesday 6 - 9 p.m ) is worth a visit. Be prepared to eat a lot! - and take some cold drinks with you. We have easily filled two weeks here. It has been a fantastic fortnight and we don't want to leave! Many thanks, J, E, A and E, Warwickshire
Another fabulous stay here at Le Puech! We have thoroughly enjoyed our holidaywith cycle rides to Laguiole (hilly!), St. Amans a couple of times, and also along the river road through Vieillevie and to Grand Vabre. The cottage is absolutely perfect, the views stunning ...what more could one want for a brilliant holiday? We had lunch at Chez Marie in Grand Vabre, great ice-creams at the cafe by the river in Entraygues, and the coffee at the Salon de Thé in Entraygues is delicious. This is our 8th visit here, we never tire of it and will be back for a 9th time next year. I hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we have. K and M G, Cumbria.
Well - what a fabulous holiday! ...Thank you so much for your kind welcome and the use of your beautiful cottage and pool. This has to be one of our best holidays in France - and we have been coming for over 30 years. It is so peaceful. The Aveyron is a region that we have not visited before - but we definitely will again. We have loved the pool - clean, warm and needed after our scorching two weeks. The lovely cheese, bread, milk, wine and coffee were very welcome after our journey down in 40 degrees!! The cottage is lovely and comfortable and the bed was big and comfy too! We have enjoyed lots of days out (with of course meals). Conques is a must - lunch on the terraces of the Charlemagne restaurant. Bozouls and the "trou de Bozouls" is beautiful. A drive up to Brommat along the Gorges de Truyere is lovely, as is the drive to Estaing along the Gorges du Lot! Logis at Estaing has a fab restaurant. Entraygues is beautiful - nice plat du jour at the Quai Ouest along the river. Other beautiful villages are St. Côme d'Olt and Montsalvy. Too many to mention really, as it is such a beautiful place. Thank you so much for such a wonderful, restful holiday. We would love to return one day. H and A, New Port Pagnell, Bucks.
We have enjoyed our two weeks in this area, and although the weather was quite mixed we have managed some lovely walks and trips in the car. The countryside is so beautiful and the views stunning. We visited Conques, which is always worth a visit, and had lunch on the terrace of the Charlemagne restaurant which was very good. The 6 km walk at Bozouls is lovely, especially at this time with all the spring flowers, and is well marked all the way round. (PR3). The viewing site for the EDF Barrage at Sarrans on the D537 a little way after Orthaguet is well worth a visit and very interesting. We loved visiting the old parts of Entraygues, Estaing and Espalion. The market on Friday morning in Entraygues is small but lovely to visit. Thank you Lesley and Howard for the milk, bread, cheese and wine etc, on arrival, very welcome. Loved the cottage. S and N L, Salisbury, Wilts.
Some comments from visitors, 2018
This is a lovely location and although we have visited Entraygues and the surrounding area over many years we have not been to this side before. The village of Montezic is lovely but seems to be missing from any tourist guides, including the newly updated walk round the nearby lake at St Gervais. Our favourite hike of the week was today's 8 km walk around La Chapelle de Manhaval, walk no.9 in the Aveyron Pays d'Emotion guide that was kindly lent to us. Favourite tourist day out was Conques, and especially lovely at this quiet time of year. Lunch at the cafe in the square opposite the cathedral was lovely and very good value. L and S S , West Yorks.
We can recommend several picturesque drives - Gorges du Truyere from Entraygues to Laussac - Gorges du Lot as far as St Geniez d'Olt - and our favourite was Entraygues (along the river) to Conques, then back on the mountain roads via Senergues. Also a nice walk recommended by Lesleyaround the lake at St. Gervais. You will have no trouble finding plenty of nice picnic spots in the area. Espalion Super U nearest large supermarket (with supermarket priced petrol too!) Weather was very good! M and A G, Dawlish, Devon
Thank you ...for the use of your lovely cottage. We have enjoyed our stay...The cheese board, wine and bread were excellent; I just wish we could find bread like this at home...We have had some lovely days out and re-discovered many places when we were last here 6 years ago, they were still as delightful as before especially Conques, Aurillac, Mur de Barrez, Château Valon, Ste-Eulalie-d'Olt, St-Gêniez-d'Olt to mention but a few. The scenery is fantastic coupled with the use of the pool and being able to eat out every evening bar one has been superb. M and B C, Devon
We have had a lovely time at the cottage and exploring the area. Thanks ....for the warm welcome (and the delicious cheeseboard!) and also for the info about the area. We've been canoeing on the Lot from Entraygues which was great fun, especially enjoyed the rapids and even saw a couple of snakes in water! Visited Conques - which is like something out of a fairytale and well worth a visit. We've been to the waterfall (Saut du Chien) which is stunning. Day trip to Aurillac - where there was a festival of Street Art - lots of street entertainers. The scenery in the area is stunning and the swimming pool is great way to end the day (and begin it) C,S,W and D; Glos
Merci encore. E and BM
We have all had a wonderfully relaxing stay here. The peace and quiet has been just the right antidote to our very busy lives back home. On arrival the cheeseboard really hit the spot! We especially enjoyed the pool - the best water in any pool we have ever swum in! Perfect temperature and great in this extremely hot weather. The table under the old apple tree is another favourite spot. Great for sitting quietly, just taking in the view. The stars at night are fantastic - no moon for the last few days and the shooting stars have been spectacular. Marche Gourmande at Entraygues on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm is not to be missed. Gallerie du Don was incredible and the waterfall nearby was worth a visit. So nice to stay in a place with really comfy beds!.... H, S,R and N, West Sussex
Ash and I have had a super fortnight here with the combination of driving out to see places and relaxing by the pool with the fabulous view. The cottage has been the perfect base with everything we needed to be comfortable. Lesley and Howard are superb hosts with their knowledge of the local area and suggestions of things to do.
MILLAU – the viaduct is spectacular as are the viewpoints around it – first we drove on the D992 out of Millau and found a viewpoint signposted Brunes on the left which lead up to a peak where the paragliders set off and land from – that was amazing to watch them with all the colourful parachutes. Driving back on the A75 over the viaduct was amazing and there’s a viewpoint after you cross – with an exhibition place.
ROQUEFORT – we stopped at Société to visit the caves where the cheese is made – this was really interesting with also the tasting afterwards!
PUY MARY – excellent trip out to the volcanic peaks – the refuge restaurant has amazing views – we went on a Sunday with lots of sunshine and the place was packed, then later in the week to avoid the local car rally and watched the clouds move across the valley and peaks.
SALERS – on the way back from Puy Mary – a medieval town with ramparts – had a lovely meal at Hotel des Ramparts – overlooking the city walls, allotments and cattle in the fields across the way.
CONQUES – lovely little town though probably best out of tourist season – had a lovely meal on the terrace of the Charlemagne Bar Restaurant – we sat as the heavens opened to several hours of thunder, lightning and rain which made for an interesting journey back with the debris on the road.
RODEZ – Saturday market – enjoyed sitting at a café looking out onto the colourful market watching people go by. Also seeing all the different meat produce – the fruit is so much better here!
We enjoyed Salers the most, probably because we came across it unexpectedly and it wasn’t in our guide books as it’s out of the region. The combination of the views and people working on the allotments was fabulous. This has been a superb trip and has left us just wanting to see more! A and K H; Suffolk

Many thanks for the warm welcome, we really enjoyed the bread, cheese and wine. In fact so much we are taking back white, red and rose from Domaine de Mejanassere. We explored the local area by car, visiting the Truyere Gorges as well as the Lot valley from St. Geniez d'Olt to la Vinzelle. The scenery is stunning plus it is a joy to drive around uncrowded roads. Try and make time to visit Bes Bedene, Chateau Vallon, La Vinzelle, Estaing, Conques and of course Entraygues We had a superb Sunday lunch at Domaine de Mejanassere, lunch at Le Saint Jacques in Conques and a stomach blowing lunch at La Capelette (au Relais de la Truyere) near Montezic. Gorgeous. all gorgeous. We have all enjoyed one of our best holidays ever...such a peaceful place and our bodies and our bodies and souls feel refreshed!!.... we enjoyed lots of the things that have already been recommended...markets, the lake at Montezic etcbut one useful find was a restaurant in Espalion called "Curiosithe" (10 Rue Arthur Canel) as this catered very well for vegetarians (and meat eaters). Thank you so much ...for creating, and sharing, a little piece of paradise; R, D, Ruby (11), Joe (8), OXON.
We have had a lovely week here in Le Puech....dinner in the orchard, lunch by the pool, breakfast outside the front, one day it rained so we even ate at the table indoors!....lazy sunny days by the fabulous pool have restored our batteries, but left us feeling that we have only scratched the surface of the delights on offer in the surrounding area. The Wednesday evening producers market at Entraygues was exhilarating; I have no idea where all those people came from, or how we all crowded into the square for food and music, but it was an experience we will always treasure. The walking around Golinhac on the opposite side of the Lot gave lovely views and took in a range of different environments. Tourist Information in Entraygues have well labelled walking routes available in English to suit all ages and abilities. The lake at St. Gervais provided a great alternative to a day out at the beach with a diving pontoon, kayaks, pedalos, play areas and a nice little Bar/Snacks. A fabulous holiday home in an amazing spot. C,E,S and E, Dartmoor
